Fitness

The 14, 000 sq. ft. Fitness Room is one of the largest and most comprehensive facilities in the area.  Equipped with a large cardiovascular area with over 110 pieces of equipment, four complete strength circuits, a Paramount zone and over 7000 lbs of Olympic free weights. 

Certified personal trainers are available to MAFC members for an additional fee.

Fitness Room Age Requirements: 
Ages 9 and under are not permitted in the Fitness Room.
Ages 10-13 must complete a teen orientation and work directly with a responsible adult at all times by sharing equipment using single rep increments.
Ages 14-15 must complete a teen orientation and may workout without direct supervision.. 
Age 10-11 years old may work out in the fitness room - Monday - Wednesday 8am to 5pm  and Thursday - Sunday Anytime
Must be 12+ years to be on a treadmill or stair master.

GYMNASIUM

     
Two full courts are available for adult and kid play throughout the day. Gym attendants are present during the busiest times of the day to ensure safety and policy regulations.  Pick-up games are encouraged, and evening play consists of 5-on-5 full-court play and half-court available for everyone. Half-court play is available for kids on lower goal. Kids of all ages will enjoy 3-on-3 tournaments, basketball clinics and other programs throughout the year.  An indoor walk/run track is located above the gymnasium.
 
Age Requirements:
Ages 12 and older are permitted to use basketball courts while a parent/guardian is in the main building.
Ages 11 & and under must be accompanied by an adult.
 

 

RACQUETBALL

 
There are many positive aspects to playing racquetball, and it’s relatively easy to learn.  Racquetball provides aerobic and anaerobic benefits, helps reduce stress, controls weight, and tones muscles.  Whether you’re just beginning or advanced, all levels can benefit from playing racquetball.  Our two racquetball courts can be reserved up to one week in advance by calling the front desk.  Protective eyewear is highly recommended.  Equipment not provided at this time (Racquets, balls and goggles).                    
                      
Challenge Nights :
Monday and Thursday evenings are reserved for friendly competition between members.  No reservations required.  This is a great way to meet other racquetball players at your skill level. Racquetball clinics and tournaments are scheduled throughout the year.
Age Requirements:

Age 16 and older enjoy full use of the courts
Age 14 -15 may play before 5pm on weekdays and anytime on weekends
Age 13 & younger must play with a responsible adult age 18 or older
 

INDOOR WALK/RUN TRACK and OUTDOOR WALK/RUN COURSE

The indoor walk/run track is on a raised platform located above the double gymnasium, and the outdoor course is marked in a half-mile increment and is located in front of the water park.   Both the indoor track and the outdoor course are a great way to get in an aerobic workout away from the hustle and bustle of fitness room.  Stroll with a buddy, speed walk, jog, or run without feeling out of place.
 

Age Requirements:
Age 12 & older may use the walking track if parent/guardian is in the main building
Ages 6-11 may only use track with a parent/guardian.

SENIOR HEALTH & FITNESS

 
If you are age 55 or older, MAFC has programs tailor-made just for you.  We offer several group fitness classes, such as Water Aerobics, Senior Fitness, Gentle Chair Yoga and Range of Motion.  You may also choose to walk at your own pace on our indoor walking track or utilize the equipment in the Fitness Room.  One of our nurses from the onsite Novant Wellness Center will design a nutrition and exercise plan specific to your individual needs.
