Incentives were developed by the City of Monroe in conjunction with the Monroe Downtown Master Plan to encourage a mix of retail and residential use, to maintain the upkeep of exisiting structures, and to retain Downtown as a cataylst site where redevelopment opportunities exist. Below is a short decription of each grant with fillable PDF files. PLEASE contact the Downtown Office before considering filling out any of the grants below.
Grant assists with costs associated with the exterior improvements of buildings that exist within the Centeral Business District.
Blade/Suspension Sign Grant
Puropse of the Grant is to encourage the introduction of a pedestrian-oriented signage to the Central Business District.
Program which supports retail and resturant recruitment by assisting quality businesses with up-fit, occupancy, and other costs.
Program to assist quality businesses wishing to locate or relocate Downtown. Program is currently designed to help with the marketing and advertising of new businesses in order to establish their presence in Downtown and brand Downtown Monroe through a co-op marketing and advertising campaign.
Grant encourages occupancy of unused space within the Downtown area and serves as a catalyst to preserve the structures that give Downtown Monroe its character and unique "sense of place."
This grant targets investments made on vacant land (infill development) or where rehabilitation of an exisiting structure requires repair or replacement.
Program designed to improve the appearance of historic buildings, stimulate private investment in these structures, and make Downtown more attractive to business activity.
Grant assists with the development of residential uses in upper levels of the buildings that reside within the central Downtown area.
