Incident, Arrest and Accident Reports
Public copies of incident and arrest reports may be obtained online at http://sheriff.co.union.nc.us/Summary.aspx, in person between the hours of 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday, or requested by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Reports cannot be faxed.
The following is needed to locate a report:
- report number
- name of person involved or
- location of the incident and date
For Reportable crashes:
a. Go to website WWW.NCDOT.GOV
b. You are now at the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) information page for crash reports.
c. Follow the instructions for completing and submitting the "Crash Report Request Form"
NOTE: Reportable crash reports are not available for pick-up at the Monroe Police Department and cannot be mailed, faxed or e-mailed.
For Non Reportable crashes:
a. The report will be available for pick-up at the Monroe Police Department (218 E. Franklin Street) in three (3) business days. Mon-Fri 8AM - 5PM (except holidays).
b. In order to obtain a copy of the crash report you must be:
i. A driver or passenger involved in the crash; or
ii. A registered owner of an involved vehicle; or
iii. A property owner (if property damage was involved)
Valid ID required
The Monroe Police Department provides fingerprinting Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m,, no appointment needed. There is a $10 fee (Cash, Check or Money Order) for fingerprinting, which is to be paid to the City of Monroe Customer Service located at 201 E. Windsor Street, Monroe, NC 28112 (building behind the Police Department). A copy of the receipt and a picture ID are required to obtain fingerprints. We do not provide electronic fingerprinting.
