-Visit the recycling page for more information-

Solid Waste services are on a normal schedule for March 2024.

The City of Monroe contracts with Waste Pro for solid waste collection. We offer weekly garbage, bulk and yard waste service. Recycling is collected every other week. Residents will be provided with one green 96-gallon cart for garbage and one black 96-gallon cart for recyclables. Please see the links to the left for more detailed information about each service including what is considered bulk waste, how to schedule a free e-waste pickup, what items are accepted in our curbside recycling program, and how to properly prepare yard waste for collection.

Quick tips:

  • Place your carts no more than four feet from the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your day of service. You can place your carts to the curb anytime after 5:00 p.m. the night before.

  • Remove your carts from the curbside no later than 7:00 p.m. on the same day of your service to avoid receiving any violations.

  • Leave a two-foot space between your two carts and any obstructions like mailboxes, parked cars, utility poles, etc. When placing your carts curbside, place them with the wheels facing your home.

  • Do not place grass clippings, yard waste, medical waste, construction and building materials, auto parts, electronics or hazardous waste in your garbage cart.

To report missed garbage, recycling, bulky or yard waste collection or if you have general questions, please call 704-282-4565.

In an effort to keep the City of Monroe beautiful, we ask that residents bag all the garbage being placed in the GREEN garbage carts. Litter occuring while emptying roll out garbage carts with unbagged garbage will be the household's responsibility to clean up. This only applies to the garbage carts,  please do not place bags in the recycling cart.
