Lt. Morgan Malone

The Monroe Police Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Lt. Morgan Malone as the new Public Information Officer (PIO), effective Friday, May 3, 2024.

In this role, Lt. Malone will serve as the primary point of contact for members of the news media and assist news personnel in covering routine news stories. She will also prepare and distribute media releases, arrange news conferences, provide assistance at the scenes of incidents, and coordinate the release of information, among other duties.

The Monroe Police Department is committed to fostering positive relationships based on mutual trust, cooperation, and respect with members of the news media and the public we serve.

“The establishment of the Public Information Officer role within our agency will promote transparency and accountability,” said Chief J. Bryan Gilliard. “Lt. Malone has deep roots in our community, and we are confident in her ability to enhance our communication efforts and continue building strong partnerships with our stakeholders.”

Lt. Malone has been with the Monroe Police Department since 2009 serving as a patrol officer, detective, patrol sergeant, and patrol lieutenant. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina University, Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate, and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Certifications for Single Resource & Initial Action Incident Command, Social Media Emergency Management, and Public Information Officer Awareness.
