Utility Improvement Notice Graphic

The City of Monroe’s Water Resources Department will be performing several upcoming projects in the area.

SANITARY SEWER ACOUSTIC TESTING

The City of Monroe Water Resources Department will have a contractor conducting sanitary sewer acoustic testing from February 26 to March 8.

The testing will occur in the following areas: Hwy 74 East between the Monroe Country Club through the Driving Range to Medlin Rd back through to Wolfe Pond Road, Icemorlee St., Charlotte Ave. between Phifer St. and I.B. Shive, Alexander Commons Subdivision, Veronica Springs Subdivision, Simpson Farms Subdivision, Stallings Brook Subdivision, and Medlin Forest Subdivision.

Customers may hear a slight high pitched sound as the testing is completed. The test on each segment of pipe between manholes typically takes approximately 2 minutes.

State regulations require that a minimum of 10 percent of all sewer lines be cleaned and inspected each year. By doing this testing it helps the City of Monroe to achieve this goal and reduce Sanitary Sewer Overflows created by unwanted blockages within the collections system.

Customers can help by reporting any suspected sanitary sewer overflow or problem to the City of Monroe Water Resources Department at (704) 282-4601.
