Optional Home Repair Plans

The City of Monroe has partnered with Service Line Warranties of America (SLWA) to offer Exterior Water Service Line Coverage and Exterior Sewer/Septic Line Coverage to Monroe homeowners.

Many homeowners are not aware that repairs to the exterior water service or sewer/septic lines that run between your home and the public utility connection are the responsibility of the homeowner.

Water service and sewer/septic lines are subjected to changing soil conditions, ground shifting and corrosion – which may cause a breakdown without warning, leaving the homeowner responsible for the cost of repair or replacement. Replacement of these lines can be expensive – costing the homeowner thousands of dollars in unforeseen expenses.

The City of Monroe has partnered with SLWA to offer optional Exterior Water Service Line Coverage and Exterior Sewer/Septic Line Coverage to help eligible homeowners prepare for the unexpected in the case of such an emergency.

Homeowners who choose to purchase the optional coverage will have access to a 24/7, 365-day-a-year emergency repair service hotline to schedule a repair. Once the homeowner has made a service call, SLWA will take care of your covered repair by dispatching a local, licensed, and insured plumber to the home. SLWA will pay the bill directly with no deductible to the homeowner.

“This is a great partnership that gives our homeowner residents the opportunity to save a significant amount of time and money in emergency situations, and have the peace of mind to know they’re protected 24/7,” said Scott Clark, the City of Monroe’s Water Resources Director.

City of Monroe Water and Sewer customers will receive letters in the mail with more information about the program over the next few weeks. These letters contain the City of Monroe’s logo, and provide a legitimate phone number and web address for SLWA.

This optional coverage is part of the National League of Cities Service Line Warranty Program by HomeServe, provided at no cost to the City. City Council approved the partnership during its Strategic Planning Meeting on July 18, 2023.

SLWA is an independent company, separate from the City of Monroe, and an administrator of home emergency repair solutions to homeowners nationwide.
