Every October, Monroe Police Officers have the opportunity to donate a set amount of money to purchase and wear pink badges in honor of breast cancer survivors during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year the department selects a survivor to honor and a charity to receive the donations.

This year’s survivor honored is Lisa Strickland, Finance Director of the City of Monroe. This year’s charity to receive the pink badge donations is Have a Heart Foundation.

“We, as Monroe Police Officers, are not only here to protect and serve our community, but also to uplift and support those who have faced incredible challenges. By coming together and contributing to this cause, we not only honor the strength and resilience of survivors but also extend our hand of support to those currently battling this disease. This annual tradition reflects our core values as the Monroe Police Department, showing our connection and commitment to the community we serve," said J. Bryan Gilliard, Police Chief.
