May is National Preservation month! The City of Monroe has officially been a part of historic preservation since March 10, 1986, when it became a Certified Local Government. Being a Certified Local Government means the city is committed to preserving its history and has placed a priority on Historic Preservation. Local, state, and federal governments across the United States are part of this program whose goal is “Preservation through Partnership.” This means working together to save and preserve historic structures and sites.
