The Monroe Fire Marshal Division leads our Fire Explorer program. The program is offered to students aged 14 to 20 who are interested in learning about a career in the fire service. It provides hands-on experience that focuses on activities to develop the skills and determination required to be a firefighter. Explorers have the opportunity to gain community service hours through our community and public education events. Eligible participants can also take part in the Department's ride-along program. We are grateful to have hired young adults who have come from our Explorer program. Currently, the program meets once or twice a month on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Uniforms and necessary fire gear are provided for the Explorers at no cost. For more information, please contact Assistant Fire Marshal Jason Easter or Assistant Fire Marshal Fire/FLSE Katie Hinson.
