    Commissioning, painting, or attaching private murals is prohibited in the Monroe Downtown District unless approved pursuant to the Guidelines for Mural Projects on Private Buildings in Downtown Monroe (PDF).

    Submission of this application for consideration of a private mural does not guarantee approval. All mural projects require public input and approval by the Monroe City Council.

  3. Mural Review Process

    The Downtown Advisory Director will review all projects, artists, and proposed mural designs. The Downtown Advisory Board will use a 5 point scoring system to determine if a proposed mural will be recommended to City Council for approval or denial.

    All Mural projects will require a public hearing and approval of Monroe City Council. Applicants will be notified of the status of their application within 60 days of submission.

  11. Artist Information

    This application requires the artists resume or website, images of six previous mural projects, proof of insurance, and a description of the mural paint and sealer to be used.
