What are the Police Explorers?

The Explorers Program is a program offered by the Monroe Police Department for youth who are interested in a career in law enforcement. This program is open to both boys and girls who are 12 to 20 years of age. Many Explorers go on to become model police officers.

Contact Lt. Kyle Purser to register or learn more about the Explorer Program.

Explorer Meetings

The Explorers meet the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Monroe Police Department. The Explorers receive law enforcement training in the following fields:

  • Traffic Stops
  • Arrest Techniques
  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • K9 Handling, Criminal Investigations
  • Many other areas

All uniforms and equipment are provided by the post. After completing certain requirements, the Explorer can participate in the Ride-along Program, where they get to ride with an experienced officer and see for themselves what it is like to be a police officer.
