Operations Deputy Chief Travis Stegall began his career with the Monroe Fire Department in 2003. Rising through the ranks, he was promoted to Battalion Chief in 2016, and assigned to C Shift. Beyond serving as a shift supervisor, Chief Stegall oversees our department's Technical Rescue, Airport Rescue and Fire Firefighting, and Medical Responder programs. He was promoted to Operations Deputy Chief in April 2025.

Chief Stegall holds numerous North Carolina state certifications, including but not limited to Firefighter 2, Hazmat and Rescue Technician, Instructor, Inspector, and Fire Officer 3. He also holds his North Carolina Paramedic credential. Chief Stegall graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1999. He graduated with an associate’s degree in Fire Protection Technology from CPCC as well as his bachelor’s degree in Fire and Emergency Services Administration from Fayetteville State University. He successfully completed both the UNCC Fire and Rescue Management Institute and the NC Chief Officers Executive Development program.
