The Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center is celebrating its Silver Celebration to mark 25 years of serving the Monroe community. 

The Aquatics Center is inviting everyone to help celebrate this momentous achievement on Sunday, May 7, from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. The Water Park parking lot will be filled with music & dancing, an outdoor dance cardio class, bounce houses, kids crafts, face painting, photo booth, a balloon artist, a gaming truck, Touch-A-Truck, food, lemonade, community vendors, anniversary T-shirts and free anniversary cake! 

“This event is open to members and non-members alike. We want to be more than just a membership-based facility, we want everyone to feel connected to this community, we want them to get involved, and we want to give back,” said Marketing/Membership Division Supervisor Leann Yandle. 

The Water Park will also be open to members and their guests (daily guest rate applies) on May 7. Staff installed new solar covers in the outdoor pool to absorb and trap the sun’s energy to heat the water. It provides the ability to open earlier, extend the season, and provide a more comfortable pool temperature. 

This event compliments the grand opening of the Water Park on Saturday, May 6, which is the earliest the Water Park has opened for the summer.

Early Season Hours (First 3 weekends in May):

• Saturdays, 11am - 5pm
• Sundays, 1pm-5pm

Regular Season Hours (Beginning May 26th): 

• Monday - Friday, 10am - 8pm
• Saturdays, 10am - 7pm
• Sundays, 1pm - 5pm

HISTORY 

The Monroe Aquatics and Fitness Center opened its doors in 1998 with the capacity to serve 4,000 members. The original 48,207 square foot facility, designed by Ramsay Burgin Smith Architects, Inc., included an 8-lane lap pool, warm water therapy pool, racquetball courts, fitness and aerobics rooms, plus a large gymnasium with two full-size basketball courts and an elevated walking track. 

Over the last 25 years, the Aquatics Center added two large fitness center additions, a three-room meeting addition, a small conference room addition, and the 31,360 square feet outdoor Water Park. The total membership has grown exponentially and is currently 15,000+ and climbing!
