The City of Monroe is excited to announce that substantial construction related to the Belk Tonawanda Park Phase 1b renovation project will begin on Thursday, March 24. This renovation project includes the addition of a Splash Pad, outdoor fitness station, permanent cornhole boards, and table tennis tables as well as path improvements and the relocation of existing bocce courts. Furthermore, a new additional shelter and restroom will be built.

In order to provide a safe environment during this renovation, Belk Tonawanda Park will be temporarily closed to the public beginning on March 24 and will remain closed through the tentative completion date of mid-June.

Although Belk Tonawanda Park will be unavailable during this time, other parks are available for public enjoyment. Dickerson Recreation Complex, located at 899 North Johnson Street, provides similar amenities and more, including a playground, greenway trail, open space, tennis courts, outdoor and indoor basketball courts and disc golf. Dickerson Recreation Complex also includes a picnic shelter that is available for reservation.

We appreciate your patience during this renovation project and look forward to reopening a new and improved Belk Tonawanda Park in June.
