The Monroe City Council will have their regularly scheduled Strategic Planning Meeting (4:00 p.m.) and Regular Council Meeting (6:00 p.m.) on May 11, 2021.  These meetings will be conducted virtually with Council following their adopted electronic meeting rules.  The meetings will also be live-streamed for the public to watch on the City of Monroe YouTube channel at Monroe North Carolina Government https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzrGKOKR72fmCEn7D0f9mlg?  In an effort to meet and comply with guidance for social distancing from North Carolina health professionals and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and mass gatherings, the City of Monroe is offering the public the opportunity to submit electronic and written public comment for the Regular Meeting of May 11, 2021.  The City will not have in-person public comments or public attendance at the May 11, 2021 meetings.  The Agenda Packets for these Meetings will be published  on May 7, 2021 and will be accessible at the following link:  https://monroenc.civicclerk.com/web/home.aspx.

PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS:

Those wishing to submit a Public Comment Period electronically for the Regular Meeting at 6:00 p.m. on an item other than a public hearing matter can do so by following this link: https://weblink.monroenc.org/Forms/Publiccomment.  Public comment on a matter that is or has been the subject of a public hearing is not permitted under City Council’s Public Comment Rules.  The Public Comment Period Form must be filled out completely in order to be part of the official record.  There is a supply of forms and envelopes and a locked drop box outside Monroe City Hall located at 300 W. Crowell Street for residents without internet access.  Residents are asked to fill out the form completely and place the completed form in the locked drop box.  Both the electronic forms and the handwritten forms must be submitted by 3 p.m. on May 10, 2021 in order to be part of the official record.  As with all public comments, proper decorum is expected.  Public Comment Period submissions received by 3 p.m. on May 10, 2021 will be provided to the Council.  The written comments will also be made part of the official transcribed minutes of the City Council Regular Meeting.
