The City of Monroe Water Resources Department has announced the closing date for Lake Lee, Lake Monroe, and Lake Twitty. Oct. 31 will be the last day of fishing and boating for the season. Monroe City lakes are open seasonally from approximately March 1 to Nov. 1 each year. During the time the lakes are closed, no activities (fishing, boating, etc.) are allowed on the lakes. The City must comply with North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality drinking water regulation in operating the lakes since they are classified for use as a drinking water supply source.

The estimated date for spring season opening is March 1, 2021. If you have questions regarding this closure, please contact the Water Resource Department at (704) 282-4601.
