The City of Monroe Engineering Department and Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, will be sweeping U.S. Highway 74 (Roosevelt Boulevard) during the week of October 14 and the week of October 21. During street-sweeping operations, temporary lane closures will occur during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Drivers are reminded to take precautions around street-sweeping equipment. The City recommends motorists leave at least three car lengths between their vehicles and street sweepers. Keeping a safe distance can also prevent damage to vehicles from debris that might come from street sweepers during the cleaning process. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area during the sweeping of U.S. 74 and to take alternate routes if possible.
