City of Monroe crews are preparing to begin the next phase of the East Franklin Street water main replacement project. This phase will take about eight weeks to complete and will cause the section of East Franklin Street from South Thompson Street to Morgan Mill Road to be closed from approximately June 5 through August 12. Affected businesses have been notified.

For all businesses on the south side of East Franklin Street:
1. Take Morgan Mill Road to East Roosevelt Boulevard (Highway 74)
2. Take East Roosevelt Boulevard (Highway 74) to East Franklin Street
3. Take East Franklin Street to the beginning of the construction zone at South Thompson Street
4. Enter construction zone at South Thompson Street (access will be made by driving around a “Road Closed” barricade that has a “Business Access” sign on it)
5. Proceed within construction zone to place of business or residence

For all businesses on the north side of East Franklin Street:
1. Take Morgan Mill Road to East Roosevelt Boulevard (Highway 74)
2. Take East Roosevelt Boulevard (Highway 74) to East Franklin Street
3. Take East Franklin Street to the place of business or residence

The water main replacement project consists of four phases; to date, nearly 4,500 feet of new water main has been installed.
