Do you live in the Historic District? The City of Monroe has received a federal grant to update the Historic District Guidelines document. The design guidelines guide the Planning staff and Historic District Commission in what is appropriate for historic structures regarding new construction, renovations, and repairs. Our current guidelines were completed in August 2000. SInce then, the Historic District has doubled in size to include approximately 400 parcels. The growth of the district and the introduction of new alternative materials make this a good time to update our current guidelines. We are hosting a kick-off meeting on January 26 at the Bottle Factory from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and we want your input! Please see the attached flyer for more information.
