The Monroe Police Department held a Swearing In, Promotion, and Awards ceremony at Dowd Center Theatre on Tuesday, November 19, to recognize recent promotions and commendations for officers.
The capstone of the event was marked by Chief J. Bryan Gilliard presenting the department’s annual pink badge to breast cancer survivor Natasha Chryst. During the month of October, officers voluntarily donate their own money to wear a pink badge for Breast Cancer Awareness. Officers raised $1,000 this year, and Chief Gilliard donated the check to Carolina Breast Friends, a nonprofit that embraces the breast cancer community by providing resources and education through fellowship and mentoring during any stage of the journey.
