City of Monroe Employees Recognized in Top 100 Most Powerful Women of Union County 2024

Six City of Monroe employees and two Council Members have been recognized as being among the Top 100 Most Powerful Women of Union County in 2024. 

The employees were named in the Union County Weekly's article titled "100 Most Powerful Women in Union County of 2024" published on March 27. 

The list included the following women in the City of Monroe: 

  • Council Member Surluta Anthony
  • Council Member Julie Thompson
  • Capt. Katie Hinson, Monroe Fire
  • Lt. Monique Holt, Monroe Police
  • Lt. Renee Hower, Monroe Police
  • Capt. Shannon Huntley, Monroe Police
  • Lt. Morgan Malone, Monroe Police
  • Lisa Stiwinter, Director of Planning

According to the paper, “The newspaper has published the list for a few years now to spotlight women in leadership roles within business, education, government, nonprofits and other sectors of the community.”
