Solid Waste

GARBAGE/TRASH

Garbage, Recycling, Yard Waste and Bulky Items are picked up one(1) time per week. The area in which you reside determines the day of the week. You can call 704.282.4511 or 704.282.4565 to find out your pick-up day.

It shall be the duty of each resident or proprietor of a business to see that all garbage receptacles are set out at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on the fixed collection day and removed after collection by 7:00 p.m. on the same day. Receptacles must be returned to the principal structure or moved at least 50 feet from the curb or street right-of-way.

Garbage carts are for household garbage only. Do not put yard waste in the garbage cart. Place carts at the curb, with the lid opening towards the road, and handles of the cart towards the residence to avoid damage to the lid.

YARD WASTE

Tree limbs, cuttings, shrubbery and the like will be hauled provided that such items are cut no longer than 4 ft. in length and/or 6 inches in diameter and weigh no more than 50 pounds and placed in manageable piles.

Leaves shall be raked to the edge of the street for collection by the City during the months of October, November, December, January, and February. Accumulation during the remaining months shall be contained in clear plastic bags and placed at the curb for collection. Opaque bags can be used but must be left open so the driver can see that it is yard waste.

Yard waste will not be picked up from vacant lots or abandoned structures.

Yard waste shall not include trees, tree limbs, brush and other material resulting from commercial tree trimmers and/or commercial lawn care services.
